Venom 3

Venom 3: Cast, plot and Everything we know

Venom 3 is set to slither into theaters later this year, bringing back Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote partner Venom for another adventure. The upcoming sequel will be the third installment in Sony’s Venom universe and fans are eager to see what’s next for the iconic Marvel anti-hero.

Venom 3 Release Date and Production Details

Venom 3 trailer has been released and movie is scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024 after being delayed from its original July 2024 release date due to production shutdowns from the SAG-AFTRA strike. Principal photography began in June 2023 but had to halt temporarily.

The movie resumed production in early 2024 after the strikes ended, as confirmed by Tom Hardy in an Instagram post. Directed by Kelly Marcel, who also wrote the script, Venom 3 started filming in London.

Returning and New Cast Members

As expected, Tom Hardy is back as journalist Eddie Brock and his alien alter ego Venom. Other returning cast members have not been officially confirmed yet.

Michelle Williams could reprise her role as Eddie’s ex-fiancee Anne Weying, who became She-Venom in Venom 2. Stephen Graham may also return as Detective Patrick Mulligan, who was left poised to become the vigilante Toxin.

One new addition to the cast is Juno Temple, known for Ted Lasso. She revealed she will have a role in Venom 3 but details are still unknown.

Additionally, Chiwetel Ejiofor has been confirmed in an undisclosed role. Ejiofor previously played Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange.

Potential Story Details

Plot details for Venom 3 are still mostly under wraps. The ending of Venom: Let There Be Carnage set up future sequels, so the events of that film will likely impact the story.

Eddie Brock’s brief transport to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: No Way Home could also come into play. Fans are still hoping for Venom to have a proper big screen showdown with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

With Cletus Kasady/Carnage defeated, Venom 3 may feature a new villain. Possibilities from the comics include Shriek returning or Eddie Brock’s ex-wife Anne Weying becoming more corrupted by the She-Venom symbiote.

Director Andy Serkis has mentioned wanting to explore other characters contained in the Ravencroft Institute, leaving the door open for villains like Shriek or Doppelganger.

Connections to Previous Venom Movies

Venom first appeared in the 2018 film Venom, which introduced Eddie Brock’s origin story. Brock gains incredible powers after merging with an alien symbiote, but soon realizes the Venom creature also poses a threat.

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage, serial killer Cletus Kasady bonds with the Carnage symbiote and escapes prison. Venom must stop Carnage’s chaotic rampage through the city.

The mid-credits scene shows Venom suddenly transported to the MCU due to the multiverse events in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He then returns to his home universe.

Michelle Williams transformed into She-Venom in the first sequel’s post-credits scene, hinting at her eventual turn to evil under the symbiote’s influence.

What Fans Hope to See

With anticipation high for Venom 3, fans have some hopes and expectations for the sequel:

  • A Venom vs. Spider-Man showdown, crossing over the two characters on the big screen.
  • More of She-Venom as a villain, with Anne fully corrupted by the symbiote.
  • Potential introduction of other symbiote characters like Riot or Scream.
  • Further exploration of Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady through flashbacks.
  • Appearances by other Spider-Man adversaries imprisoned at Ravencroft.

The Future of Sony’s Spider-Verse

Beyond Venom 3, Sony has a slate of other Spider-Man universe movies in development. These include:

  • Kraven the Hunter (August 2024) starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson
  • Madame Web (February 2024) with Dakota Johnson
  • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (March 2024)

The studio appears committed to building out its own interconnected on-screen universe using Spider-Man characters. So Eddie Brock and Venom will likely continue battling enemies and crossover with other Marvel favorites.

Venom 3 marks the next chapter in the unique big screen life of one of Marvel’s most famous anti-heroes. Tom Hardy is ready to bring the menace and mayhem, with the beast soon to be unleashed in theaters once again.
