Unstable Season 2 Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Plot and Everything We Know

Get ready for more laughs and crazy situations because Unstable Season 2 is coming to Netflix! The funny TV show about a wacky boss and his awkward son was very popular in its first season. Now fans are excited to see what silly things will happen to the Dragon family next.

Unstable Season 2 Release Date

Netflix has said Unstable Season 2 is happening, but they haven’t announced an exact release date yet. However, based on when they filmed the new season, fans can probably expect it to premiere sometime in the second half of 2024.

Filming for Unstable Season 2 started in November 2023, right after Netflix renewed the show. It took about 3 months to film the 8 new episodes, finally finishing up in late January 2024. With time still needed for editing, a release date in the summer or fall of 2024 makes the most sense.

Unstable Season 2 Trailer

There is no official trailer out yet for Unstable Season 2. Netflix usually shares first-look teasers and full trailers 1-2 months before a new season starts streaming. So keep an eye out in spring or early summer 2024 for the first sneak peeks at the new season.

Unstable Season 2 Cast

All of the main actors are coming back for Unstable Season 2, including Rob Lowe as Ellis Dragon, the wacky biotech boss, John Owen Lowe as Jackson Dragon, Ellis’ awkward son, Sian Clifford as Anna, an executive at the company, Aaron Branch as Malcolm, Jackson’s best friend and Emma Ferreira as Ruby, another close friend.

The new season will also have two major new recurring guest stars. Iris Apatow will play Georgia, a former step-daughter of Anna’s who joins the company and causes chaos. And Lamorne Morris has been cast as Peter, the charming founder of a rival biotech company.

Unstable Season 2 Plot

In season 1 of Unstable, viewers met Ellis Dragon, a brilliant but unhinged biotech CEO struggling after his wife’s death. His awkward son Jackson was pulled into the family business, forcing him to deal with his strained relationship with his father.

The season 1 finale set up some big storylines for Unstable Season 2. Ellis took fiery revenge on an employee he didn’t like by burning her car, showing how unstable he was becoming. Jackson also started dating his friend Luna even though he used to like her best friend Ruby.

In Unstable Season 2, fans can expect to see the aftermath of these events. Ellis will likely face consequences – maybe legal troubles – for his rash actions and increasingly unstable behaviour that could threaten his control of the company. Jackson’s new relationship with Luna will also probably create drama in the friend group.

Unstable Season 2 Production

As mentioned, Unstable Season 2 was filmed for about 3 months from late 2023 to early 2024 in Los Angeles. The creators, father and son Rob Lowe and John Owen Lowe, returned along with one of the original producers, Victor Fresco.

However, a new producer named Andrew Gurland has taken over for season 2. His fresh perspective could help shake things up while keeping the same funny essence of the show.

What Fans Can Expect from Unstable Season 2

So what can fans expect when Unstable Season 2 finally comes to Netflix? According to star Rob Lowe, they may need “many hours of family therapy” after watching the new silly situations!

More specifically, season 2 will likely double down on the chaotic workplace comedy and dysfunctional family stuff that made season 1 so funny and entertaining. Ellis’ increasingly unstable behaviour will no doubt cause massive headaches – and lots of laughs – at the office.

Meanwhile, Jackson will struggle to juggle his new romance with the pressures of working with his unstable dad.

With 8 episodes instead of just 6 like season 1, there will also be more time for subplots involving side characters like Malcolm, Ruby, and the new additions of Georgia and Peter.

After building a big fanbase with its unique first season, Unstable Season 2 aims to take the hilarity even higher. By further exploring the troubled relationship between biotech boss Ellis and his son Jackson, the series hopes to become one of Netflix’s top comedy hits.

Though fans will have to wait a little while, the 8 new episodes promise double the laughs and drama whenever they premiere in late 2024. With some fresh faces and the creators’ signature brand of edgy workplace humour, Unstable Season 2 should be well worth the wait for fans craving more entertaining madness from the Dragon family.
