Paddington 3 Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Plot and Everything We Know

The little bear from Peru is returning to theatres once again! After almost seven years since the beloved sequel Paddington 2 delighted audiences worldwide, Paddington fans can rejoice as the third instalment in the franchise has finally been given an official release date.

Titled Paddington in Peru, the third movie will see Paddington and the Brown family embarking on a new adventure abroad as they travel to the bear’s homeland. With filming now underway, here is everything we know about Paddington 3.

Paddington 3 ReleaseDate

Paddington 3 will be released in UK cinemas on November 8, 2024, and in US cinemas on January 17, 2025. The movie started filming in July 2023 in the UK but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, actress Rachel Zegler was unable to join production and has since been replaced in the movie (more on that below).

Paddington fans have had to wait over six years since Paddington 2 became an instant family classic, so the confirmed release date has been eagerly anticipated news for all marmalade-loving viewers.

Paddington 3 Trailer

At this stage, no trailer has been released for Paddington 3 yet. However, as filming is currently underway, it is hoped that a first-look teaser trailer may be released sometime in 2023 or early 2024 to build anticipation ahead of the film’s November 2024 release.

Fans will have to make do with the clapperboard image from the set featuring the movie’s title for now. As soon as a trailer becomes available, it will be posted here.

Paddington 3 Cast

Thankfully, many familiar faces are returning for Paddington 3. Ben Whishaw will once again voice the lovable bear. Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin reprise their roles as the Brown family. Sadly, Sally Hawkins will not be returning as Mrs Brown, with that role now being played by Emily Mortimer.

Some major stars have also joined the cast. Olivia Colman will play The Reverend Mother, while Antonio Banderas takes on the role of Hunter Cabot. Rachel Ziegler was originally cast in the role of Cabot’s daughter Gina but was replaced – the role will now be played by a newcomer

Carla Tous. Imelda Staunton returns to voice Aunt Lucy. Cast regulars like Jim Broadbent are also expected to reprise their roles.

Paddington 3 Plot

Not much is known about the plot of Paddington 3 just yet, other than the fact that it will see Paddington and the Browns travelling to Peru to visit the bear’s Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears. A brief synopsis reveals that “a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and to the mountain peaks of Peru.”

While specific plot details are being kept under wraps for now, past Paddington movies have included a villain for Paddington to outwit – so it’s likely the third movie will feature another criminal nemesis for our hero bear to battle.

Paddington 3 Production

Dougal Wilson takes over directing duties from Paul King, who served as director on the first two Paddington films. King remains involved as an executive producer and co-wrote the story alongside writers Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton. Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont have penned the screenplay.

Producer David Heyman, who has been with the franchise since the beginning, returns to produce through his Heyday Films banner. Filming started in July 2023 on location in the UK and is ongoing.

What Can Fans Expect From Paddington 3?

If the past Paddington movies are anything to go by, fans can expect another heartwarming, funny, and feel-good adventure starring their beloved Peruvian bear hero. With beloved characters, talented stars and creative talent returning alongside exciting new additions, Paddington in Peru looks set to continue the franchise’s winning formula on the big screen.

Travelling to Peru also promises beautiful South American settings and culture to be explored. Most importantly, it will no doubt feature Paddington’s good-natured antics and kindhearted spirit spreading marmalade-filled joy once more.

Conclusion

After an almost seven-year wait, Paddington fans finally have a confirmed release date to look forward to for the third movie instalment. Paddington in Peru releases in UK cinemas on November 8, 2024, and looks poised to become a new holiday season treat, continuing the heartwarming film series’ tradition of feel-good family entertainment.

With most of the principal cast reprising their roles and exciting new stars joining, the movie is shaping up to be another marmalade-filled delight.
