Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Plot and Everything We Know

Cobra Kai Season 6 is set to be the final instalment of the hit Karate Kid spinoff series on Netflix. After five wildly popular seasons, the sixth season promises to deliver an epic conclusion for the saga of Daniel LaRusso, Johnny Lawrence, and the duelling dojos.

While details are still limited, here’s everything we know so far about the potential Cobra Kai Season 6 release date, trailer, cast, plot and more.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date

Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for Cobra Kai Season 6. However, the goal is reportedly to premiere it sometime in 2024.

Showrunner Hayden Schlossberg stated on social media in early 2023 that the plan is for a 2024 debut. More recently, he confirmed that production kicked off in May 2023 after delays.

With filming now well underway, many fans speculate Cobra Kai Season 6 could arrive in mid to late 2024. But Netflix will likely drop a release date with little advanced warning, as they did for previous seasons.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Trailer

No full trailer or footage for Cobra Kai Season 6 has been released yet. However, Netflix did unveil a brief teaser clip in February 2024 with the cast announcing they were back in production.

We’ll have to wait patiently for an official Cobra Kai Season 6 trailer to drop, likely one month ahead of the premiere date. But more teasers and clips may come out as filming continues throughout early 2024.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Cast

All the main stars of the Karate Kid saga are expected to reprise their roles in Cobra Kai Season 6. That includes Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel, and more.

New cast members could also join the final season. Showrunner Jon Hurwitz teased “a fresh new team-up” in Season 6, likely referring to characters crossing over from different dojos.

There’s also speculation around Martin Kove returning as John Kreese, along with past Karate Kid movie villains like Mike Barnes, played by Sean Kanan. And fans hope Hilary Swank might appear as The Next Karate Kid’s Julie Pierce.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Plot

Co-creator Jon Hurwitz said Season 6 will contain “one of the most crowd-pleasing fights of the series.” There will also be a major focus on the global Sekai Taikai karate tournament.

With Terry Silver defeated, and Daniel and Johnny now allied, the plot may follow Kreese seeking revenge after his prison escape. Tory, Kenny, and other students are also at a crossroads on whether to stay loyal to Cobra Kai.

The final season is expected to wrap up key character arcs and long-running feuds between Daniel and Johnny, while potentially leaving room for spinoffs or movies down the line in the “Miyagiverse.”

Cobra Kai Season 6 Will Be the Final Season

When Cobra Kai Season 6 was announced in January 2023, Netflix and the creators confirmed it would end the series.

“Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms,” said executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.

While bittersweet, they felt it was the right time creatively to wrap up character stories. But the finale will set the stage for possible future Cobra Kai or Karate Kid stories with the same cast.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Episode Count and Runtime

Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg revealed that Season 6 will have a total of 10 episodes, two more than usual.

The expanded episode count will allow them to give the series a proper sendoff. Schlossberg also said the runtime for the finale alone will be “movie length.”

So we can expect almost an hour for the final ever episode of Cobra Kai to provide closure for loyal fans.

The Legacy of Cobra Kai Will Live On After Season 6

Even once Cobra Kai wraps up on Netflix, the legacy of the series will remain strong for years to come.

Along with propelling The Karate Kid back into the cultural zeitgeist, it has launched the careers of its talented young cast and been embraced by generations of fans.

Through five seasons and counting, Cobra Kai has exceeded all expectations. While Season 6 will close this chapter, Johnny, Daniel, and the karate kids of the Valley will continue kicking for generations more in our hearts.
