2024 Kawasaki ZX6R Review: Features, Mileage, Colours, Specs and Price in India

The Kawasaki zx6r is back in India with a refreshed design and features. With strict Euro 5 emission norms coming into effect worldwide, Kawasaki has given the zx6r a complete overhaul to make it future-ready. Let’s take a detailed look at what the 2024 Kawasaki zx6r has to offer.

Kawasaki zx6r Design and Styling

The design of the 2024 Kawasaki zx6r has become sharper and more aggressive. It gets an updated full LED headlamp cluster with DRLs that look very premium. The front fascia is completely redesigned with new air intake scoops and sharp styling elements.

The fuel tank also looks sculpted with radiused lines. Some other design highlights include reworked side fairings, new graphics, bolstered seats and colour options. Overall, the design has matured with a very sporty yet hunkered-down stance.

Engine and Performance

At the heart of the Kawasaki zx6r lies a liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. This engine produces a peak power output of 124PS at 13,000rpm with a maximum torque of 69Nm at 11,000rpm. The engine now complies with stringent Euro 5 emission norms without compromising on power output. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The engine is very smooth and refined through the rev ranges. It pulls cleanly from low rpm and keeps gathering steam right up to its 13,000 rpm redline. The gearbox has very slick and precise shifts.

Handling and Suspension

The handling characteristics of the Kawasaki zx6r are its biggest USP. It remains one of the best handling litre-class superbikes owing to its lightweight chassis and precise geometry. The bike gets 41mm inverted Showa Separate Function Big Piston Forks in the front and a Showa mono shock at the rear.

Both ends are fully adjustable for preload, compression and rebound damping. The suspension setup is tuned for track duties but is not too stiff for city rides. Braking comes from dual radial-mounted calipers and twin discs at the front as well as a single disc at the rear aided by dual-channel ABS.

Braking and Safety

Braking duties on the Kawasaki zx6r are handled by dual 310mm petal disc brakes up front along with a 220mm petal disc brake at the rear. The brakes offer superb feedback and are very effective. To ensure rider safety, it gets features like a double barrel anti-lock braking system which prevents skidding during sudden braking.

It also gets three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain which alter the traction control intervention based on the selected mode. Other electronic aids include launch control and a quick shifter.

Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

Being a full-fledged litre-class sports motorcycle, maximum focus is given to performance over fuel efficiency. The Kawasaki zx6r is rated to return a certified fuel efficiency of 23.6kmpl which is reasonable for its size and performance output.

During our test rides, we achieved a real-world mileage of around 18-20kmpl depending upon riding conditions which is at par with competitors. The fuel tank capacity of 17 litres allows a range of over 300km before needing a refuel.

Features and Convenience

In terms of features, the Kawasaki zx6r gets an all-LED lighting with signature DRLs. It gets a fully digital 4.3-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. This enables functions like GoPro/GPS mounting, call/text alerts and navigation assists.

Other features include single-channel ABS, a USB charging port, an underbelly pan on the exhaust pipe, bungee cord hooks and a tank pad. The split seats, adjustable levers and clip-on handlebars prioritize an aggressive riding position.

Color Options

The 2024 Kawasaki zx6r is available in two colour options Metallic Graphite Gray/Metallic Diablo Black and Lime Green/Ebony. Both the colour schemes look very appealing and sporty.

Price and Availability

The 2024 Kawasaki zx6r is priced at Rs. 11,09,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). Bookings are currently open and deliveries are expected to begin by early next year. It gets a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard.

Competition and Rivals

The main competitors to the Kawasaki zx6r include the Honda CBR650R, Yamaha YZF R6, KTM RC390 and Suzuki GSX-S750. While the CBR650R is the only direct 600cc rival, the others are competitors based on their pricing and characteristics in the premium sportbike segment.

The 2024 Kawasaki zx6r is a complete package for enthusiasts looking for pure performance-oriented sports riding. It remains one of the best handling litre-class superbikes and the new updates make it even more appealing in terms of design and features. With competitive pricing, it promises to deliver an entertaining experience both on the road and on track.

Its strong points include incredible engine performance, light handling abilities and superior braking components aided by electronic rider aids. It will surely ignite passion in thrill-seeking riders in India.
